The Westcliff Harbour Hotel enjoys a unique position in the truly beautiful and charming little coastal town of Sidmouth. Within the Heritage Coast, defended from every wind but the south. Sidmouth is unspoilt, architecturally interesting, pretty and a well tended Regency town, where views and values have changed little within the passage of time. The town seems full of privately owned shops determined to stock the unusual. Beautiful public and private gardens abound, for which Sidmouth has won international honours and continues to win annual accolades in the Britain in Bloom competitions.

Directly opposite the Westcliff Harbour Hotel is the superb Connaught Gardens, Sidmouth's floral centrepiece, which leads to the safe Western Beach and is now linked to the Esplanade via the Millennium Walkway.

Sunday evening concerts by the Town Band in Connaught Gardens are always popular with our guests, while the annual exhibition of paintings in July illustrates that Sidmouth and East Devon are such a treasure trove of subjects for artists. August sees the Folk Week and Regatta, at the end of which we are shown a magnificent firework display.

There is much to entertain at the Manor Pavilion as well, a delightful air-conditioned community theatre, only five minutes walk away. One of Britain’s best-known repertory companies presents a Summer Play Festival every year, with two highly professional productions each week. There are also concerts, a Christmas pantomime and productions of musicals and drama by Sidmouth Societies.

Within the local activities, great popularity holds as well the annual Duck Race, which takes place on the River Sid.

September is Carnival time, whilst on Boxing Day the seafront plays host to the annual charity fancy dress swim attended by many brave enough to take the plunge.
